I received an anonymous comment this week from someone identifying themselves as sandie*****der@gmail,com. Mr. or Ms. sandie*****der@gmail,com said, “You(sic) living in the past – all the info you provide is Theory X. “

Ouch.

First I had to look up what Theory X is.  I didn’t go to B-School and that sounds like Business School stuff.

My degree is in having created a company we grew from 3 to 200 salespeople in 7 years. I have a passion for the scientific method that   I learned from Michael Gerber. By scientifically studying the results we got from those salespeople, I doubled and doubled again how many successful salespeople as a percentage of sales hire,  we made over a two year period.

Mr.sandie*****der@gmail,com, you are so wrong it’s not even funny.

We don’t believe, as Theory X assumes, “that employees are inherently lazy and will avoid work if they can and that they inherently dislike work.”

The Advanced Hiring System is based on putting square pegs in square holes. The Advanced Hiring System is based on the theory that if you give someone a job they’re naturally suited for they are more likely to do a good job at it.

When I responded to Mr.sandie*****der@gmail,com that I would welcome a dialogue I heard nothing back. A second request yielded silence, as well.

Which leads me to two observationss and a thank you to Mr.sandie*****der@gmail,com — I appreciate your opening a subject that’s been bugging me for a long time.

1) The dirty, dark secret about most of this social networking stuff, (that has made Zuckerberg one of the wealthiest men on the planet) is that most of what we read nowadays is not backed with much. It is the Twittering of birds. Anybody can “snipe” in 140 characters or less. Not good.

2) The world’s economy is stuck in suspended animation because all of the fixes applied by the world’s governments has been designed by B School Jocks.  Small business is the driver of economic growth in a healthy economy, yet most B School Jocks don’t have the slightest idea how to run a small business. They dream of working at a gigantic company where they and their fellow B School Jocks know the names of all the theories. The world needs more small business activity to create jobs. The wrong people are making far-reaching decisions and keeping our economy stuck in neutral.
